Our trip to Lough Lannagh

We made the most of the beautiful Spring weather this week and went on a lovely nature walk down to Lough Lannagh. At the start of our walk we really enjoyed watching the waterfall down by the bridge. We then spotted some lovely crocuses and daffodils which are starting to grow. We also saw the lovely white swan swimming in the lake. On our way home we even managed to spot some frog spawn! It was such a great day out.

Best of luck to Castlebar Mitchels

We are all very excited about the big football game on Monday. To support the Castlebar Mitchels team we all wore are red and yellow colours to school! It was lots of fun and we even had our photograph taken for the newspaper. Come on Castlebar Mitchels!

World Book Day!

Last week we celebrated World Book Day on March 6th. All the boys brought in their favourite book and we had a chance to read quietly to ourselves. It was great fun and we really enjoyed our reading.

Jolly Phonics

Here in our classroom we use the Jolly Phonics Programme to help us learn our sounds so that we will be able to read all on our own! We have completed all 42 sounds and we are now revising all of these sounds. It is important that you continue to practise these every night at home. To find out more about this programme you can click here.

They will be keeping a close eye on them everyday watching as they grow and turn into flowers. They can't wait! Have a look at our photos below and we hope you enjoy our spring song. You can listen to it by clicking on the video here.

Pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday was this week so we decided to celebrate here in our classroom by having a pancake party. The boys made party hats and Olga heated up the pancakes for us all to eat. We all sat around, spread some honey on our pancakes and wow was it delicious!

Aistear: A visit to the Doctor!

This year we have started Aistear in our school. Aistear is all about learning through play. It is in full swing in our Junior Infants classroom, and the boys are really enjoying it. At the moment we are learning all about visiting the Doctor's Surgery, check-up's and how to keep healthy! The boys had great fun acting in role as Doctor and Patient and using all the Doctor's equipment. Have a look at all our fun photos below and who knows we might have some future Doctors here in our School!
