Meet Bingo!

Bingo Murphy is our new friend.  He is so so cute and we are crazy about him.  We want to get to know Bingo better so every night we bring him home with us.  We play, chat, dine and do other fun stuff  with him. Then we write and draw about our adventures in Bingo's big book.  The next day we return him to the class and talk about all the fun we had.   Bingo's book is getting so big and it is so interesting to read.  We are having a ball with Bingo!

Summer.... at last!

Last week the sun began to shine.  It was actually warm and we didn't have to wear our jackets at break time.  We had to keep with this theme in our art lesson, so we decided to make summer suns and ladybirds. We did such a good job that we displayed them outside our classroom.  They really do look like the real thing!

In the Garden!

Last Tuesday, the sun decided to peep through the clouds  and shine for a little while.  We took advantage of the lovely weather and  headed straight out into the garden.  Mrs Galvin and Paul were already there beavering away so we rolled up our sleeves and helped them.  We planted seed potatoes.  Paul had done so much of the ground work last week.  We watched him prepare the ground, turn the soil and make the drills.  He worked so hard.  So a very big thank you to him.  When we planted our potatoes, Paul covered over the drills again and now all we have to do is wait and watch them grow! We can't wait!

Look we were shopping!

This week in Maths, we continued on the theme of 'money' and did shopping.  In small groups we acted out the role of customer and shopkeeper.  We were buying and selling cars, trucks, trains and even aeroplanes!  We had to do the pricing ourselves and we all had real money. We had so much fun and learned so much about trading!

Money, Money, Money!

This week we started to learn about money.  Each of us had our own money box with 1c, 2c, and 5c coins. We did so many things with money;  We learned what each coin looked like and how they are different from each other. We played with money.  We did rubbings of our coins and swapped coins with our partners. Can't wait till we go shopping next week!

Look at our circles!

Our art lesson this week was fun and interesting. We learned about a new artist Wassily Kandinksy, a Russian artist who loved painting circles.  His style of painting is such fun.  When we were finished we put all our circles together and displayed them outside our classroom. Have a look!
